/ - added a picture of me to the cv, altered links on pages 1 and two to reflect the host's wishes
/rpg - you would have to look to see all that has been done - I averaged a page a day until getting it to where it is, may even have an idea for a new page soon too...politics - added a service via which you can get emails from the Conservatives, altered link to them to better banner and added banner in old editorial
/rpg - created a site for a Play By Email star trek game, it is very popular at the moment...astronomy - added subdomain as well as Moon and Jupiter pics to the gallery
Come on, there must be people willing to join the thing now!politics - moved old editorial to one side and put in a new one as well as the much hyped ToryBlog...
I will soon be moving part of this list into the outdated abyss, probably once I get to fifteen entries.politics - the subdomains are very unreliable at the moment. There's always one or two working and all the others are not. Which are working and which aren't are entirely a matter of chance
Aside from that all is going well, should be able to get the site back on track and raring to go any day soonHappy New Year!
and I hope you had a nice christmas. Well, if you're reading
this, you lived through it all - unlike my hosting package. As I go to
print, so to speak, so my old method of hosting goes to the wall to be
replaced by a more advanced service thanks to the generosity of my
package provider. More space, more flexibility and proper subdomains so
I don't have to worry about
domainname/thingy/something/extrabit/etc/gratuitousextra/x.shtml...
On the other hand, my message board has been switched off for a
temporary period - ie until we can work out what went wrong. It has
just stopped working
politics -
the launch of the first subdomain, now no longer
philipstobbart.co.uk/politics, we now have:
politics.philipstobbart.co.uk
Far more modern
This new setting out should enable me to do all the bits I have
been meaning to do, move the politics, writing, photography etc
sections out of the main site and into their own little bit - the duke
nukem bit will be expanded to become gaming, eventually. The middle bit
will be things that apply personally to me with the appropriate links
to other bits. My experiences, my cv and the people I've met. All else
is irrelevant
And, you never know, the new web service may even include hidden
gems I can use to expand the site further
So apologies for lack of message board, but I can put up the old
messages and provide an email form that will act as a slower but more
controlled form of message board. No more spam, only what I want up
there...hehehehe. Ahem
Not that I was entirely adverse to editing the thing before the
change
Happilly graduated and have the
pics to prove it!
/index.html - everyone can
stop complaining now, I have altered the front of the site to make it
download faster!
/politics
- have brushed up a couple of the pictures and added to the chistory
page, for some odd reason
The
writing pages are now developing fast - I have updated some of the
hidden files already online in preparation. I am also creating a star
trek fan fiction add on to the site, to be placed in the writing
section, work is progressing well - I have created a ship model and
played it in a computer game, gaining screenshots to illustrate the
site. I have also been taking lessons in how to build such sites by
looking at others, which will be referenced in the main site - assuming
permission is gained
I expect
this to be an excellent venture that expands the scope of the site and
increases traffic
The
conservative history page has, so far, been the biggest draw leading to
over five thousand hits a month - not bad for a poorly advertised
personal webspace, which hasn't quite had everything I promised added
to it yet!
With the
start of the new term, I expect another record breaking month in
November after October's hit-rate high of 5470
Many
thanks to those that have taken to time to post supportive messages in
the guestbook and message board, I do appreciate it and read them every
week to keep me going as I expand the site
New pages
based on essays I have done will soon be posted on the politics section
...and
prepare for my first published book - well, self published draft of a
book that then will be moved to a different publisher and cleaned up a
bit!
Happy Birthday Mum! (XX years old yesterday... - not twenty...)
Not too long until Graduation Day!
A little bit of something to warm the heartstrings by
/events - by popular demand (ie me!) I have added the index page in order to make the Terry Pratchett thing accessible in the first instance
/profiles - have set up the index page as a warning to those I may profile, eyes down, knives out
/profiles/famous - in a desperate attempt to make the profiles section relevant in some way, I have opened the second path to the Pratchett page
/photography - get out the party poppers, deck the halls - I have removed the temporary index page and replaced it with the thing that was supposed to be there!
I have looked at the other pages I was going to do, but what I am doing is far more exciting at the moment...
I may also make a music page with all that that entails
I will be create one other section (hopefully the last I have to make while still limited through space) which will involve funny or unusual emails - spammers beware, your addresses will be littered through my site!
Note that space is becoming to be at a bit of a premium - or at least will be when all these photo heavy pages are put up!
Happy Birthday to Philip Drury (22 yesterday)
A bit of something happening here over the last month, but not much of anything else
/politics - added link to Andre Walker et al's coup...also altered description of his cf directory link, as he has been extremely generous to this site when ranking it
/events - added Terry Pratchett signing thing into events folder - pratchett.htm for anyone that is interested. This page will serve for the events folder, the profiles folder and even as an entry into the ucl summary, so I get quite a bit out of it when I begin linking!
/associate - a certain Mr Drury has set up shop here until he can get his own site, or until I run out of space...
/cv.htm - I have my degree results and the final result for my project, might as well advertise them here - a complete breakdown of all my results is available through my NRA, and may become available as my UCL summary gets up and running - but they will be password protected!
I will eventually do all the stuff I have been promising to do - but this is a young site and I haven't finished doing all I originally intended, so hold on for those main bits - it only gets better from here!
My 22nd Birthday today!
and to celebrate, I have given myself a present in the form of a revamped index section
The new index section reformats the three old index pages, absorbs news into a main header and adds a CV page, I have also added a standard message board, email, guestbook footer to each one was well as the table beased header. I have begun adding in dedicated photos for each page and will soon be adding in the drop down channels list I have been promising the readers of the politics index page for some time, soon. In my haste to put this upload on this significant day, I have decided to put these off until later
/news.html - I have had a complaint that this section had far too bright words on it, so the new powder blue look given to the other parts of the index section have been added here
/default.htm - no more word template created nonsense - a new powder blue look with a dedicated photo
/page1.htm - again, the frames are dead and the new photos are in
/page2.htm - the new menu look has been added as with all other pages
/cv.htm - new page to advertise my skills to the world without giving away too much
A friend just got a scanner and so I hope to cadge a bit of time on it to get the NRA finished and get photos for the profile section - I may even be able to get digital copies of old photos I had given up trying to digitise. The Student pages are forming in my mind as are the writer pages. The photo index page really will be created. Honest. The astronomy section may be about to finally take off!
Oops, another long break from site updating - well nearly, I've been doing offline work on the thing, meaning lots more exciting stuff coming your way over the next fortnight - including two entirely new sections and an update to a third!
If I get time, I will also revamp the front section. Frames have had their day on this site and I will be switching to a table and header based layout, much like the times, and pretty similar to the current layout. This way, I can get rid of the untidy word created look and put in a new pure html look with new photos - may even do a new gallery with self-portraits in just to celebrate the fact I'm getting rid of those old ones up there now
Will soon be leaving UCL and so producing a bit of the site summarising my time in there
May also create a tory 'blog to capture the excitement of any events I go to in the future, no really...
So, for now, revel in the horrific sight of a computer game level polluting my, until now, umblemished record - my duke 3d page!
/duke3d - have created this new page, includes two levels for the game, created by me, but unfinished. Pages explaining each level and the levels themselves can be accessed as can the message board and email for those little comments
/page2.html - have placed duke 3d and wyrdwyrm links up - pre-empting the appearence of the main wyrdwyrm site...tsk
Speaking of little comments, the admin site for processing payments for this site has been temporarily closed down, so my plans for expanding by 10MB are on hold for the time being, but will be up and running soon - then more galleries, a bit of MPEGing and all sorts of other things will be available
Until then, wait with baited breath for the writing site with my new free pdf ebooks, the revamp of the photosite - with new free galleries
...and yes, maybe a revamp of the front design, tory blog and a new mystery bit for the /creative side...
but all that will be in its own time
Please sign the guestbook - I know people look at it, I know people have actually clicked on the link and gone to it, it is all recorded in my logs - along with the sites you came from - some of which will never be linked to from this site...I even know people visit this page, which came as a surprise, but there we are - something for everyone!
Ages since I updated any part of the site!
Lots of things have happened since - I have been busy on my final year project - now complete, then masses of revision
first exam tomorrow - High Energy Astrophysics!
/photography - as a bit of cartharsis, I have been developing my portfolio - now up and running
Lots of writing done, will be adding section to site as soon as I get adobe acrobat. Looking to pay £50 for a complete, unregistered version, that price and spec appears available on Ebay, but I'm not about to put energy into that when doing my exams as well
Notice on of my photographs in my portfolio has, at least in the concept, been used by the Pet Shop Boys...investigations are continuing...
Message board finally taking off. 31 hits to the guestbook this month - shame no-one ever bothers to sign it!
Dad's 50th Birthday!
/politics - added two euro-links, pics of Ken Clarke, IDS and Michael Howard, replacing some of the old featured photos - even got one of me in there holding a European flag...
/photography - complete Geneva pics in secret folder - no index yet
/photography - added index and Bath free pictures, also added gallery four of golden jubilee pictures in secret folder - not quite in order, but it'll do
/poltics - added Oliver Letwin picture from National Weekend
In line with recent web-trends, I have decided to add an occasional 'blog' to reference site updates that may happen from time to time
To begin with, a quick statement on where the site stands:
main pages - built by word, slow moving, hard to access, last on list to update at the moment as they will be annoyingly labour intensive to correct... Need to add a bit about the 'car-boot sale' and finish the directories where the dead links live
/politics - the most popular part of the site, once part of conservative future UCL, now utterly mine. I update links and will continue to do so on a regular basis, need to add features - articles, need to get the new pics uploaded (will only take me half an hour, but the pics need to be in the same place as me and a computer at the same time - great one of IDS coming up...) Need add outside interactivity
/creativity - new bit, currently concentrating on games, has recently become very popular due to the 'Eliminator' board game, Freddies and my dice star trek game (don't we all have them...just me then) need to be uploaded - will be done soon, but pics are required for both,
/astronomy - need to upload my extra pics that haven't been scanned, apart from that, I await user interaction before a society can actually be founded!!!
/events - these are picture heavy articles that need pictures and words before I can activate them, lots of potential here, little done, but if I can spend one evenning on it, I can make a start - but need pics on here,
/nra - done, needs occasional update as my career unfolds, but probably done and looking very good!
/photography - index page done, photos chosen, now all I need to do is get them here and get them up
/profiles - have been thinking about these recently, a few should make it soon, email me if you know me and want to affect the way your profile goes - they will be in four parts - pics, me on person, person on me, biography, I only need one wordy bit to have a profile so expect lots of 'me on persons' with some pic or other...my elder sister be warned...
/student - in a bit of a limbo as I have a student site on the UCL servers, but that is quite academic so I could do more fun things on here - collections of studenty things on the site, the 'car-boot sale' etc, maybe even a few articles from the politics section, we will see
/writing - I do have something hidden in a protected directory here, and a few other things I can link to, but unless I get my hands on adobe to make some pdf files, I won't be posting much else
So, as this site heads towards its first birthday (May), I still have a few words and a lot of pics to do. A quick note about the pics, although they are all sitting at home ready, I have to remember to bring them to UCL, have chosen which to use and get them mashed through a program that generates photo-galleries. Quite a lot.
Over the next few weeks I will be doing work on /creative, /profiles and /politics - maybe others if I get a chance between the stuff I am doing at university and everything else I do
Since some pages have dates telling you when I last updated them and some don't, every update to the site will be put here - even the ones you won't be able to access!!!
Oh yes, and Blackie, the cat in the photograph, sadly died recently after a long life and a short bout of frailty
